One must be careful when they sign up and check things out. I thought I was buying ADT. However my system is so basic that it is almost useless and i am stuck with it for 36 months. At $42 something a month. Being on Social Security this is a extreme hardship. ADT home page has a system with much more for $30.00 a Month. ADT should be more careful in the people the allow to represent them. I am going to write to the better business site.

I worked for ADT for 7 years and was a District Manager for them for over a year. I left and went to ProtectionOne. Why? ProtectionOne does home security better, monitors better, uses NO DEALERS, is not owned by a MEGA-CORPORATION, offers technology and solutions, Named one of “The Most Trustworthy Companies” by Forbes (no other security co. even made the list). For the clients, better customer service, pricing and personalization. My main reason was to be a part of the BEST not the largest.

  • ALARMSLSMAN says:

Did you know that ADT has more “Dealers” than corporate offices. Why would any SECURITY COMPANY rely so heavily on people they are not responsible for? All a dealer does is give you a lick-em-stick-em system, and after learning everything about you…sells your system to ADT and you never hear from them again. Even the cards they give you DON’T have their number on it…it’s an ADT 800#. And that wonderful intro rate you got…read your contract. “We reserve the right to increase…after 1 yr.”

Also…I’m not sure what you call cheap…? To add a Cell-Guard to your system is $199 and an additional $12 a month. If you buy it out the gate as a package, the least your monthly will be is $45.00 not including FIRE Monitoring, CO or FLOOD….AND that’s if you panel is compatible and doesn’t have to be switched out. If that’s the case…heaven forbid you have more than 1 keypad @ $125 a piece plus $99 for the upgrade.—BY THE WAY…no alarm panel uses YOUR cell phone…unless they call you.

  • WAKElineEnt says:

The ADT alarm panel takes 30 seconds to compile an event and 20-30 seconds to get to their center, then they have to interpret what the signal is telling them, review actionable items…and then call. That is SLOW! The reason you got such a quick response on the phone w/ them is ALL you are doing is a communication TEST. This should almost be instant; and if you are on the phone line it uses; should be disconnected.

  • PandawdyBob says:

How are they slow? You can test your system and then call them.. or even get them on the line and activate an alarm. They’ll tell you as soon as they receive it. It’s usually less than a minute.

  • PandawdyBob says:

The cell backup doesn’t cost much either. Pretty good protection in my opinion.

I325brink your stupid the longest respose time ive got has been 38 seconds and the best 19 seconds! ADT are great and there new systems use both landline and cell phone networks if there is a power cut there is a built in battery!

  • Kariye23 says:

Adt has a feture that if the wire is cut it will use ur cell some how but no adt will still help IF u have celluar backup

  • kosmosleha says:

all you have to do is cut the phone wire :) and no ADT will help, right?

  • fucheduck says:

    what happened?
I am having a guy come to do an estimate on my previously installed system, the previous owner of my house had it installed and I am wanting to know what it is still doing up there.(I wasn’t aware of this fact until I got a letter in the mail).
