In a wireless security system everything takes place wirelessly. For example, a wireless security system can include the wireless devices that might go on the door or the window, or maybe a motion sensor or smoke sensor. It transmits a signal through a frequency to a receiver, or to the brain. The way it communicates with a wireless system is it yells over to the receiver, and then the receiver picks up its yelling.

Hard wire security systems are a little different. A hard wire system sends a signal through a wire so if you have a device, it has to be wired over to the brain, or to the control panel, and connected to it. That’s how it communicates. The question then becomes: which is better? Welcome to the day of technology. We have the cordless telephone, cell phones, laptop computers doing things wireless. We are in the wireless age, clearly, and this is just my opinion, but wireless security systems typically are more than adequate. A lot of people in the industry say hardwired is better. The reality of the situation is the people who say hardwire is better also do wireless systems. Because there are certain applications, particularly here in Florida, where you cannot wire back to the control panel.
